FIRE DESTROYS DOUKHOBOR JAM PLANT AT GRAND FORKS. –

The large jam plant of the Doukhobor colony near Grand Forks was destroyed by fire last Saturday about midnight.  The big brick building which housed the plant, together with 4,000 cases of jam, sugar and cans, went up in smoke.  Sergt. E. Gammon and police are investigating the possibility of incendiarism.  The first run of approximately 40,000 tins had been put up and stored awaiting the labels.  The loss is estimated at between $50,000 and $75,000.  This was covered by $7,000 insurance, which was on the machinery.
